Do your shopping on Sunday or Monday before Thanksgiving --unless you have lots of freezer and refrigerator room~!! Shopping List Turkey--20 pounds or more store in refrierator to start thawing Stove Top Stuffing 2 Turkey flavor 2 cornbread flavor 1 lb. of breakfast sausage Poultry Seasoning and butter 1 Fully Cooked ham pineapple rings marichino cherries brown sugar dried mustard butter whole cloves Mashed potato flakes or whole potatoes and cook your own 3 envelopes of Turkey gravy 3 large cans of sweet pot. or yams Marshmallows ground cloves ground nutmeg ground cinnamon ground ginger 8 cans of French style green beans 3 cans of Cream of Mushrooms soup Milk garlic powder soy or whistershire sauce 2 large cans of fried onion rings Dinner rolls or biscuits of choice Olives and pickles of choice Celery stuffed with cheese and peanut butter 1 doz eggs miracle whip salad dressing prepared mustard paprika 1 can Cranberry jelly 1 can whole Cranberry Sauce Mom's Cranberry Relish-- pkg red jello (cherry-red rasberry-cranberry) cup of boiling water 1 stalk celery 4 apples-cored 1 whole orange-peel and all seeded 1 pkg cranberries-washed sugar 1 pkg pistacio pudding 1/2 cup chopped pistachios 1 can crushed pineapple 1 8oz whipped topping 1/2 cup coconut shavings Waldorf Salad- 2 green apples 2 red apples lemon juice celery walnuts-chopped green seedless grapes raisins or chopped pitted dates whipped topping miracle whip salad dressing Heavenly Hash- 1 can mandarin orange section 1 can chunk pineapple 1 jar marichino cherries 2 bananas 1 cup coconut green seedless grapes whipped topping marshmallows Orange and Endive Salad- 1 head of Endive lettuce 4 oranges-peeled and sections salt- pepper oil -vinegar 2 ready made pie crusts 4 cans pumpkin 2 cans evaporated milk and spice from above-- ground cinnamon cloves nutmeg 2 No-Bake cheesecakes 1 can cherry pie filling 1 can blueberry pie filling Now in this next section-- Recipes and a time table of what to do~!! After bringing home your groceries you can clean -- chop and store your veggies and fruits-- clean and slice celery into 3 inch sections clean and core and chop your apples into 1/2 inch pieces Wednesday-- Mom's Cranberry Relish disolve your red jello in 1 cup of boiling water and set aside process remaining ingredients in food processor(or meat grinder will work)-- add to jello, the juice and all, mixing well-- adding sugar a little at a time to reach desired sweetness. You can put this in a jello mold or bowl(if using mold spray with cooking spray for easy unmolding)Store in refrigerator to set. Waldorf Salad 2 red and 2 green apples chopped sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning 1/4 cup chopped celery 1/4 cup chopped walnuts 1/4 cup raisins or chopped seedless dates 1/2 cup green seedless grapes 1/3 cup whipped topping 1/4 cup miracle whip salad dressing Mix all ingredient in large bowl, sprinkle with ground Nutmeg and store in refrigerator, in airtight bowl. Watergate Molded Pudding 1 pkg pistachi pudding 8oz whipped topping 1 can crushed pineapple(juice and all) 1/2 cup chopped pistachios 1/2 cup coconut shavings 1 cup marshmallows Mix all ingredients in large bowl and refrigerate or put into mold(using cooking spray in mold--for easy unmolding) **Personal note: when using this, and the cranberry recipe at Xmas,you can create two molds, one green and one red for nice presentation on dining table. Heavenly Hash drain all canned ingredients--combine all ingredients-- mandarin oranges pineapple marichino cherries 2 bananas peeled and chunked 1 cup seedless green grapes 1 cup of coconut 2 cup of marshmallows 8 oz whipped topping Mix all ingredients and store in refrigerator in airtight container. Deviled Eggs hard boil and peel 1 doz eggs, slice in half- using food processor speeds up mixing of egg yolks and appoximately 1/2 cup miracle whip salad dressing and 1 teaspoon or prepared mustard. Using teaspoon to refill eggs with mixture and sprinkling top with paprika. Pies-- Pumkin Pies-- make two according to can directions or favorite family recipe, While they are baking -- use this time to make your NO_BAKE cheese cakes. When serving use cherry and blueberry pie fillings for topping--or use your favorite canned pie filling. When pumkin pies are done--let cool and cover with foil losely until next day. This is the time to clean your kitchen, and set you dining table~!! Make sure you clean your sink with a bleach based cleanser(comet, Ajax, or bleach itself)and rinse thoroughly~!! Just before going to bed--take turkey from refrigerator, place in a sink of COLD water, making sure it is totally covered--if your sink is not deep enough--use clean kitchen towel to cover turkey--making sure your soak the towel also. According to the time you are to eat, start preparing your meal on Thanksgiving morning. Brown and drain your sausage, and add to your stuffing mixes while preparing them according to the package directions for "in the bird". Use a trusted cook book and follow directions for stuffing and roasting of your "most prized" dinner guest, ahha~!! About two hours before you are to eat start preparing your green bean casserole, drain green beans and put in baking dish, add cream of mushroom soups and 1 soup can full of milk for each 3 cans of soup, sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon of garlic powder and whistershire or soy sauce, mix well and pat gently to settle, spread fried onions on top, set to side while you prepare your ham. Remove all wrappings from ham, and score in diamond pattern and poke small hole in center of each diamond. Put whole cloves, stem down, into each hole. Arrange entire can of pineapple rings ontop of ham and set marrichino cherries in centers, and cracks around the pineapple-- reserve juices to simmer on stove with brown sugar and small amount of dried mustard, to use as baste for ham. Start your potatoes. Remove Turkey from oven, and remove dressing to serving bowl immediately~!! Put green beans and ham in oven, and raise temp to match your biscuit recipe directions. Cooking ham and green beans for approximately 50 min to 1 hour. Put your drained yams into baking dish, cover with brown sugar(appox. 1 1/2 cups) cut 1 stick of butter in pats, and spread around over the brown sugar, sprinkle 1 tsp each of ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger over the dish and stir to mix up, bake for 15 min. in the oven with green beans and ham--remove and add marshmallows--return to oven until marshmallows brown slightly. Now is the time to put squeeze cheese and peanut butter in the celery, put your olives and pickles in serving dishes, set out all your salads, jellos, and deviled eggs. make sure you have plenty of salt and pepper shakers on the table, and fill your ice water glasses. Make your orange and endive salad by peeling and sectioning your 4 oranges, washing and tearing your lettuce, mix two parts oil with one part vinegar & one part water and dress your salad, sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Start your gravy, biscuits or rolls. When the green beans and ham come out of oven put in biscuits, and call your hungry little Pilgrims and Indians to the dinner table.~!! DON'T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR BISCUITS OUT OF THE OVEN~!!!!!!
